Hurricane Sandy: One Year Later

This is the week that Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey and other states on the East Coast. Most of us felt the terror that the storm brought us in that night and over the course of the next few days. Among the power outages, gas lines, loss of life, loss of houses and psychological damage that the storm brought us, most of us survived and still some continue to fight to get their lives back in order.

There are not enough words to describe what has happened to get lives and houses back together. From the houses on the shore to boardwalks, a lot of money and time is dedicated to getting order restored. In Keansburg, there are still houses that have not been touched. There are still houses being worked on. Even the amusement park is not back to full strength yet. Everyone has felt the affects.

There are plenty of ceremonies around the state that are using flashlights to light up New Jersey tomorrow in remembrance of the storm.

Here’s the slideshow that I posted a few days after the storm, once I found a place with power. It is amazing how much progress this town has made since last year.
